The seductive flutter of glittered lids and kohl-lined lashes tease masculine suitors with sultry, heated gazes. Staring through  the sculpted art of vibrant painted masks, you struggle to find what lies beneath the facade. Hidden in the shadows of plumed feathers, faceted jewels, and the recoiled bounce of corkscrew curls, you yearn to possess the unknown secrets of your soul.

The music stops, but only for a moment. Captured by the vivid green gaze glowing at you through the black satin finish of his mask, this pale, raven-haired suitor makes his way towards you. His stare never falters from your face. Holding your breath, your lungs begin to beg for air. The beat of your heart thunders against the bodice of your dress. Well aware of his hunt, every instinct promises the thrill of the chase. This handsome rogue has made you his prey. Approaching with long, confident strides, he stakes his claim with the fancy display of a gentleman's bow and the introduction of his name.

Dorien's knowing, emerald eyes twinkle with mischief. He slowly lifts your hand towards the rakish grin commandeering every delicious plain of his perfect, sculpted face. Groaning upon impact, the frigid feel of his mouth bestows a scandalous kiss on the inside flesh of your wrist. Pulled into the safety of his muscled embrace, the unnatural coolness of his touch ignites a fire that threatens to consume you. Leading you into the newest song of waltz, it's finally your turn to dance...only this time...it's forever.

About the Author:

Kristine Cheney is 39, and is a published author with Astraea Press. She is currently writing the Spartan Heart Saga series and has released Spartan Heart, Part One, and Spartan Heart, Part Two. She is currently writing the next book in the series, Spartan Surrender, which is expected to be released by Fall 2011. Three more books are planned to follow. 

An Arizona native, Kristine lives in Surprise and has been married 21 years to her high school sweetheart Brett. She is the mother of Taryn, Brett, and Zackary, and is a young Grammy to Parker, Ivy, and baby Evely'nn. A huge labrador lover, she is also mom to yellow lab Magnus and to the very naughty (and huge) white Labra-doodle puppy Brody.

Hobbies include writing passionate love stories that involve chivalrous characters, dashing adventure, forked humor, and the ever-true good vs. evil dilemma. Her favorite place to relax is anywhere within close proximity to a beach or wooded lake. A huge history buff, she plans to one day make a trek across the US to get her fill of American wonder (with hubby, labs, and lap top in tow). She loves a good hot cup of coffee with Creme Brulee liquid creamer and sugar. A maestro with a bag of frosting, Wilton cake decorating lessons only fueled her artistic fire. She is pretty darn awesome at crankin' out a deluxe wedding, baby shower, or themed birthday cake that will make your toes curl.
